Thomas Beardmore, George’s brother, was born in 1818. According to a letter to George’s grandson Edward from his cousin, John Beardmore of Hanley, the brothers ‘never spoke to each other – for at least 40 or 50 years’.

Thomas was an Engineer and Ironfounder in Tunstall. On October 15th at Burslem Parish Church, he married Mary, the only daughter of Billy Lear who kept ‘The Old Crown’ at Burslem. Thomas and Mary had three sons: Thomas Arthur (born 1839), Philip (born 1840), and Robert Francis (born 1847), and a daughter: Margaret (born 1843). Thomas and Philip worked in the foundry but Robert was apprenticed to a wheelwright at Derby. Margaret married David Sherwin.

Mary died on December 30th 1877 and Thomas died on September 21st 1884.
