Family tree: corrections and additions

This page records the corrections and additions made to the Family Tree and to the stories on this site, with the evidence for each change. The newest changes are at the top.

In October 2026 the family tree moved from the old Reunion file (exported as a GEDCOM) onto this website, which is now the master copy. Where the old Reunion data and the stories disagreed, the stories and the evidence below decided which was right. The whole tree can still be downloaded as a GEDCOM file from Family Tree → Export GEDCOM in the dashboard.

Change	Details
Corrected on the pages	George (1815): son John born 13 Feb 1845, not 1846 (gravestone). John (1845): Agnes Ethel died 19 Nov 1970, not 17 Nov (probate calendar). Alan: in 1901 he was staying with his grandparents John and Emily (1901 census). Spelling and typing errors corrected on several pages.
Living people	Full birth dates of living people in the stories have been shortened to the year.

Change	Details
People list	A new A–Z list of everyone in the tree, grouped by surname, with years, parents and husbands or wives. It is built from the tree, so it keeps itself up to date.
Family Tree address	The Family Tree page is now at /family-tree/. Links to the old address still work.
GEDCOM export	The tree can be downloaded as a standard GEDCOM file (Family Tree → Export GEDCOM), with the option of leaving out the details of living people.

Records added

Census pages, certificates, probate entries and obituaries already on the site were gathered into a Records box on each person’s page, under the Family panel, with black-and-white copies of the scans. Fourteen people now have Records boxes, with 63 records between them, including George, John, Frank, Alan, Edward and Thomas.
